How to migrate a Wordpress website to MediaSeve LLC?
We can perform a cPanel transfer which will migrate all your data, but sometimes you need to manually migrate from some other service or control panel system. These instructions will help you perform a manual migration using a Wordpress plugin.
First, of course you have to create the website on our platform before you can migrate it. If you've signed up for a hosting plan, that has been provisioned, but you also need to install Wordpress to your hosting plan before you can migrate from the previous host. That is handled with these steps:
- Login in to your service details at https://my.mediaserve.com/clientarea.php?action=services
- Click on your hosting plan to access the hosting service details.
- Click the Log in to cPanel menu option on the left.
- Once in cPanel, look for Software > Softaculous Apps Installer and click that.
- There will be a Wordpress tile with a blue Install button. Click that.
- Fill in Choose Installation URL as the same value in your existing Wordpress website and leave everything else alone. (It will be replaced by the migration.)
Once that's done, you've basically installed an empty Wordpress install on MediaServe's hosting platform, and the steps performed at your previous host will handled the rest of the migration.
At your previous host do the following:
- Log into the Wordpress dashboard at the existing host.
- On the left side menu, hover over Plugins and select Add New.
- In the Search plugins... box, enter Migrate Guru, then install the plugin and activate it.
- On the left menu, click Migrate Guru.
- Enter your email address, check the I agree to Blogvault Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy box and click the Migrate Site button.
- Click the Other Hosts button.
- Click the link labeled Manually Input Host Details.
- Fill out the Destination Site URL field as the URL to your Wordpress website.
- Choose FTP Type as SFTP.
- Fill in Destination Server IP/FTP Address as the IP address of your MediaServe hosting server (ask if you don't know.)
- Fill in Port (optional) as 900.
- Fill in FTP Username as (your cPanel username.)
- Fill in FTP Password as (your cPanel password.)
- Fill in Directory Path as /home/username/public_html (replace username with the actual cPanel username of your account.)
- Click the green Migrate button at the bottom.
If you've properly set up the migration options, it will begin migrating and you'll be informed of the successful result.
