- [your website domain name] - your website provisioned on the MediaServe Pro hosting panel.
- [user] - The user portion of the email address, i.e. sales would be the first part of sales@mediaserve.com.
- [your mailbox password] - The password you assigned to the user of the email account.
For email accounts created on a website provisioned on the MediaServe Pro hosting panel, perform these steps:
- Visit https://mediaserve.pro > Websites > [your website domain name] > Emails and click the Add Account button.
- Provide the email address, full name and password and click the Add button.
- Once the email address has been created, click on the email address in the list and you'll see additional options such as Forwarders, Spam settings, Out of office and Email client settings (values you can use to configure software clients such as Outlook, Apple Mail, eM Client, Thunderbird and others.)
- We provide a webmail client as well at https://webmail.mediaserve.pro or https://mail.[your website domain name] too, where you can send and receive email and tailor your webmail experience. Log in there with the full email address and password.
With in each email account there is a section labeled Email client settings at the bottom, but there are better values to use:
- Email hostname: mail.[your website domain name]
- Login: [user]@[your website domain name] ([user] replaced by actual username.)
- Password: [your mailbox password]
- IMAP Port: 993 TLS encrypted (optionally POP3 port 995 TLS encrypted)
- SMTP Port: 587 TLS encrypted (optionally port 465 SSL encrypted)
- SMTP Authentication: Required (use Login/Password as above)
Securing your email service will require a couple extra steps:
- Visit `https://mediaserve.pro > Websites > [your website domain name] > Domains > [your website domain name] > Email authentication` to enable DKIM.
- If you need extra DMARC protection, create a TXT record _dmarc.[your website domain name] and set the value to prevent spoofing with something like "v=DMARC1; p=reject; rua=mailto:dmarc@[your website domain name];" (tailor your mailto and ensure it exists as a legitimate email address, and _don't_ employ DMARC _until_ you've confirmed that gmail addresses receive email before you do.)
